Hallowe’en

November 5, 2009

Hope everyone had an awesome Hallowe’een. A few of my friends and I went on a haunted walk in downtown Ottawa, and I learned a couple of facts that I might have been better off not knowing. And I’ll share some with you! How generous, right? One thing that I never knew before was that when Ottawa (or Bytown) was first being settled, what is now the downtown area was used as a huge cemetery with massive graves dug for those with diseases like cholera. As recently as 40 years ago when the National Arts Centre (NAC) was built bodies had been found emerging in the rain and also where they were to lay the foundation of the new building. The solution was to lay down more dirt and to put a huge stone gazeebo over top. PHEW.

Battle Royale LAN Party

January 12, 2009

I haven’t been blogging so much lately, because I have been spending most of my spare time helping to organize a huge LAN party that is taking place from January 24-25, 2009 in Ottawa, Ontario at Carleton University. I can barely believe how soon it will be taking place! I will not be able to attend, because I will already be in France, but I have been trying my best to help make this LAN a huge success.

I was able to get Bawls, the energy drink for gamers to sponsor the event with 200 free drinks. Steam is also donating us 100 free temporary accounts for those do not own Valve games, and want to try them out and/or participate in the Valve game tournaments.

My friend, Renegade, from Pwnage.TV will also be making the trip up to Ottawa to do shoutcasting for the various tournaments!

I wish so much that I could be there, because LAN parties are always fun, and I know this one will be truly great. Please spread the word to your Canadian gamer friends ^^

The first Left 4 Dead league has already opened its doors by UGC, known for its alternative gaming leagues such as 7v7 TF2. I think it’s great that a league has already been started for it, because it will make it easier for LAN parties to have Left 4 Dead tournaments in the future by using these rules that have already been established.

My 7v7 TF2 team, Stacked Team, will also be competing in L4D, so I was automatically added to the roster. I had a bit of a chuckle when I saw myself on there today, but I really doubt that I will ever play because L4D will only ever be 4v4, as my roster is quite huge.
